COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 30, 2026) – USA Shooting wrapped up its 2026 Rifle and Shotgun Fall Selection Matches following several weeks of competition in Colorado Springs, with National Team positions on the line and shotgun competition returning to the historic Fort Carson range.
Rifle athletes opened the stretch Aug. 19-23 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, competing in air rifle and smallbore three-position events.
Competition then shifted to the USA Shooting Shotgun Range at Fort Carson, where skeet athletes competed Aug. 28-Sept. 1, followed by trap Sept. 3-7.
The return to Fort Carson marked a significant moment for USA Shooting and the shotgun community. The historic range has played an important role in USA Shooting’s history, and this year’s Fall Selection welcomed athletes from across the country back for national-level competition.
The trap match also saw a record turnout, with nearly 200 athletes registered to compete.
Rifle Fall Selection
For rifle, Fall Selection completed a two-part National Team selection process that began at the 2026 USA Shooting National Championships. Combined results from both competitions determined the top three athletes in Men’s and Women’s Air Rifle and Men’s and Women’s 50m Rifle Three Positions.
“This is our first time using the new selection procedures, where scores are carried into the final,” said National Team Coach Pete Durben. “It adds another level of intensity to the selection process and will better prepare our athletes for international competition. I’m excited to see how they perform throughout the remainder of the international season.”

The combined results also help determine which athletes will represent the U.S. at international competitions for the remainder of 2026, including the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol in Cairo, Egypt, Oct. 8-16, and the Championship of the Americas (CAT) Games in Lima, Peru, Nov. 21-Dec. 1.

Shotgun Returns to Fort Carson
For shotgun, Fall Selection concluded the selection process that began at the 2026 USA Shooting National Championships in Hillsdale, Michigan. Results from the two competitions were combined to determine National Team rankings in Men’s and Women’s Skeet and Trap.
Skeet
Samantha Simonton won the Women’s Skeet Fall Selection Match, followed by Dania Vizzi with silver and Madeline Corbin with bronze. Christian Elliott took the Men’s Skeet title, with Vincent Hancock earning silver and Dustan Taylor bronze.

The selection also named Julia Nelson, Gracie Hensley and Karsyn Ross to the Women’s Development Team and Remington McBee, Aidin Burns and Adam McBee to the Men’s Development Team.
Trap
Trap closed out the Fall Selection Matches Sept. 3–7 with nearly 200 athletes registered to compete.
Aeriel Skinner took the Women’s Trap title, followed by Carey Garrison with silver and Kayle Browning with bronze. Jack Brosseau won the Men’s Trap competition, William Hinton earned silver, and William Browning took bronze.

With Fall Selection complete, the newly named National Teams turn their attention to the remaining international competitions on the 2026 calendar, including the Championship of the Americas (CAT) Games in Lima, Peru and the ISSF World Cup Final in Rome, Italy.
